31/01/2012 11:06:31:PM Happy New Year Hope you are all in good spirits and recovering from the Christmas period. The band have enjoyed a little winter hibernation and are dusting off their instruments for some February rehearsals("can't wait to dish some abuse"). As you may expect in these darker times, it,s going to be a hard year for bands and venues up and down the country, but I can tell you, we are bursting with enthusiasm and are 'Ready To Rock'! You know that there's nothing better for a 'Pick Me Up' than to come out and support live music.... especially The Pure Floyd Show who are the only ones who can play Floyd with attitude (you know what I mean). We have the sounds, the lights, the effects, gallons of smoke, amazing good looks, style, all the very best songs, flawless ability to dazzle (yeah , yeah ... get on with it...) so get on the events page, get out your diary and scribble. Don't forget, we need your ideas for new songs, venues, your post gig comments and as I always say .. come and speak to us at gigs .. we are one big family. Take care see you all soon.
27/11/2011 1:59:25:PM Haddenham Nov 2011 This was our 4th return this hall and yet another full crowd in good voice. John and Ian had chance to show off their new toys (led lights and martin moving heads) and although we don't want to swell their heads ... it was pretty darn good! Gary managed to get through the evening with a super glued fingure tip, which he want on and on about all day and evening long (as if any one really cared). Archies back held out after being virtually immobile during the week. I think we need a first aider to come along with us as we all seem to be crumbling to bits. We would like to apologise that we could not fit in all the songs, but we had already gone over by 30 minutes and we wanted to show off the songs with the sax and the newest entry .. welcome to the machine. This confirms why Floyd are just incredible, you can play for 2 and a half hours and still leave out songs that people consider a MUST. We are going to lay low for a while over the Winter period whilst we re-generate, oil and refresh the band equipment. Who knows ... we might even enter a couple more golden songs to the set list. Send us your favourites on the guestbook. Happy Christmas and New Year to all you TPFS fans and see you again soon. Your support has been amazing!!!
20/11/2011 10:44:04:PM Maddermarket Theater Thankyou for the very warm reception and reaction we received at our debut at the Maddermarket 2 Sept 11. This is such a wonderful historic theater with very friendly staff and it was a real pleasure for the band to play there. The overwhelming flow of comments from the crowd as they left the buidling was quite humbling and as I have said many times before, this is what makes it all worth it. We hope to play in Norwich again next year, so we will try and contact you all to let you know that we are coming. Once again ... thankyou so much/
21/08/2011 11:22:39:PM Harbour Rooms 21 August 2011 We keep coming back to this great little venue on the Norfolk Coast each year. It is nice to do some shows with a mixture of seated and standing audience who enjoy the comforts of this very friendly and well run club. The management pull in some really great names here and if you are looking to get close up with your favourite bands, then the harbour rooms is a MUST. All things told, the night went smooth and without hitches, a lovely crisp sound and great lights. We look forward to a return next year. Just to let you know, I still have no news on the Cornish Pasty saga, but I will not be dropping my search for the culprit. The band think I should get over it, but me finding a mouldy pie in my guitar case is like someone planting a sherry trifle in your bedsheets. (A waste of good food and potentially very messy). Weather permitting we are at the Railway, Coltishal next week. So hope to see you there for more great floydy vibes. 'Till then... sleep well and piles of good health to you all'
14/08/2011 7:39:31:PM Princes Theatre. Clacton. Wow! What an absolute pleasure to play at such a stunning venue. We were in complete awe as we approached the building and likewise when we saw inside the hall. Yet another great support crew awaiting for us, who continued their support to the very end ... thankyou. The crowd were absolutely superb and were completely with us on every song. At the interval we were treated to lashings of healthy fish and chips that Vicky kindly arranged for us after she finished her last song of the first set. She is really fitting in well with the 'family' and just after 2 shows I think we seem to really enjoy each other's company. We hope to see Vicki many times in the future and for those who have not seen her yet ... 'Dick Parry eat your heart out'. We had such great fun all night with bag fulls of pranks, abuse and general childish behaviour. I think Ruth enjoyed riding up and down on the stage lift. I just want to finish off on more of a serious note .... who ever it was that left half a cornish pasti in my bass guitar case .... this is war! See you at Blakeney for another crazy night. Good health! TPFS
10/08/2011 9:45:14:PM Fisher Theatre. Bungay. This was our first visit to the Fisher Theatre and what a lovely historical venue it was too. Corey the general manager and David the Theatre Technician were fantastic in accomodating our every needs. They form part of a great team in this theatre and made us feel very welcome. A big thankyou to Kim who stepped in and operated the house lights. This was due to Ian's absence, who thought it was a good day to jump out of a perfectly good working airplane! Also big thanks to Vicky who made her debut appearance on Sax with the Band. (nice to see the Dick Parry style Sax change over in 'Crazy Diamond'). Very nice to play to a full house and a few surprise guests from Florida who I happen to know well. Lots of normal eventful things happening during the day such as 'Flat Tires', Not being able to squeeze all our equipment in to the Van, hunting down missing vital power cables hours before show time, Archie rushing back from a wedding and soundchecking literally minutes before doors opening, Gary's new brown shoes (awful) and bucket fulls of abuse between members of the band. All in all a great day and we still love each other. Ahhhhhh! See you at Clacton..... TPFS
05/08/2011 9:51:12:PM Cambridge Rock Fest We were so proud to be asked back for the 4th time in a row and also to be with such great artists as company. Thanks to Dave Roberts and the crew who were extremely accomodating, especially the stage manager who has probably not used so many microphones and d.i. boxes for one band!! Most of all, thankyou so much for the overwhelming repsonse at the end of our set. We hope to see a few of you tomorrow night at Bungay, which will be in contrast a nice cosy night in. (No need to bring your wellies!) Just a small note to end on ..... can someone tell me why I returned to the bands van, which was empty when I saw it last, to find a pair of slippers and roll of toilet paper sitting in the back. I've tried to put the pieces together, but nothing adds up here?
27/06/2011 10:43:18:PM Lady Of The Lake Boy was it a sizzler! I think we could have fried burgers and eggs on Jaspa's drum skins. It was so hot! Hope you all enjoyed the debut performance of 'Welcome To The Machine'. As I said last time we have a few other songs on the back boiler and hope to get these practised up soon! We have been asked several times for t-shirts and if the requests continue to roll in, we will probably go for a new design and add this to our 'To Do List'. We have added 2 smoke machines to our inventory, which will compliment the new mirror ball (due to be collected this week). It is half a meter across and I think it will look nice on my bedroom ceiling between gigs! I have already tried the smoke machines under the duvet, but did not get the response I was looking for, also waking up the neighbors with the fire alarms! (well you have to try these things out somewhere). Next gig at the Cambridge Rock Show, where we hope to provide a 'full on / power punching' set. Don't miss this festival. See you there .... TPFS
19/06/2011 8:41:18:PM Corn Hall Theatre Diss Why do we keep putting ourselves through the rigours of a weekend's performance following an exausting week at work? Answer : Because of nights like last night, because from the first song to the last song, the hairs still stand up on the backs of our necks and because of all the appreciation you give back to the band. You may think that we are too busy strutting our stuff on the stage to notice, but we can see the smiles on your faces and we can hear you singing along to the songs. The great thing about live music are the 'Human Maoments' like when you forget the words and have to think creatively, when a guitar string breaks during a solo, when the vennue's electrics cut out, or when someone accidentally pulls out a major sound cable during the interval. It is all a challenge and makes a memorable night. A big thanks to you (audience) the theatre staff, Chris (sound engineer from many miles away!), Simeon (Simply Sounds / Scanner lights), John and Ian (Lights, smoke sound effects, roadies, comedy), Spike (Vocal Effects), Chris and Graham (Bill and Ben The Security Men), Sandra (Childcare and normal insults. Also nice to see Ellie back (hope you get back to full strength soon). Last but not least ..... The infamous 'FLOYDETTES' who are now officially part of the band's inventory. Hope to introduce 'Welcome To The Machine' soon, plus a few on the back boiler that may get a debut this season. Well I do not know about you ... the pillow is calling, time to build up energy for next Weekend's Lady Of The Lake. As always ...Thankyou and Very Best Of Health to you all. TPFS
27/02/2011 6:32:32:PM Lady Of The Lake One of our favourite venues and as usual, a sizzling night for us all. I am glad Paul has got a loud 'in house PA', as we seem to be competing with the vocals from the crowd more and nore each time we visit. We just love to see true floydees 'letting go' and enjoying the moment as much as we do. Ruth had broken toes, Gary's ailing throat, Kelly's chest infection, Mike's bruised spine and Archy's bad back, we felt like a battered rugby team before we went on. It is somewhat strange that after the first few notes are played, the adrenelin kicks in and you just get on with the show. Most of us got home at 4am to soothe our aches and pains and fall asleep to the sweet sound of 'noise/ ringing in the ears'. (An occupational hazard). You may have noted 'Johnny light fingers' has been pressed by the band to 'rock himself up a bit' and spotted the ear piercing. This is supposed to be a secret and we were told not to wind him up too much, so we thought we would slip this 'breaking news' on the web site, as he does not have a computer. This is great, because you can all now tap him on the shoulder and say "nice stud mate!" and he will not twig on what you are on about, just think he has had a chat up line. Ha Ha. We are having a short break whilst Jaspa is touring in Amsterdam with his other music interests. Do not forget to let us know 'what you want to hear next'. We have a few ideas .... 'On the Run, One Of These Days, Learning To Fly, Welcome To The Machine, Bike, Pigs On A Wing and few few others. We will have to see what comes out of the hat, or what the vote page reveals. Happy March and Good Health To You All! Regards ..TPFS
13/02/2011 8:20:10:PM Brickmakers 12 Feb 2011 Yet another great night and another great floyd crowd. A special thanks to Charley for such a wonderful stage / pa and light set up.This is not only a great venue to hear live music, but also for the musicians to play at. Apologies for the 'Missing Bell' at the beginning of 'High Hopes'. Jaspa did his best to simulate with a cymbal, after several panic calls and failed searches to find our small but very expensive missing piece of equipment. After feeling a bit dejected that we may have lost our prized beloved Bell, Gary's mum found it the following morning under her coffee table! (Ding-dong)The band therefore would like to offer Ian their full apologies, after holding him fully accountable for the loss. We have not been able to offer our grovelling apologies as he apparantly caught a plane to Ireland early this morning. We do not know if this is out of fear of us promising to carry through our threat of strapping him naked to the band's van and taking him through a power car wash.(Gosh, I just got a picture there and it wasn't nice at all). John, Jim and Shaun (the floydettes) got their wishes with the Great Gig ... We had an absolute blast, hope you did. See you at Lady Of The Lake.
23/01/2011 10:48:07:PM Haddenham 22 Jan 2011 Great start to 2011. If you enjoyed this gig as much as we did, we know you had a great night. The packed venue, although a bit overwhelmed with smoke at times, shows how good the combination of 'Live Music', good food, a few drinkies and the friendship of music lovers, can turn a dismal January evening into a great event. For those who have kept asking, your prayers were answered with the debut of 'The Great Gig In The Sky'. The full realization of how much this song can make an impact to all Floyd fans, or simply anyone who knows this legendary piece of music, was realized with the deafening response at the end.For those who wondered why the sound was significatly better in the 2nd half, this is explained simply by a discovered power lead that had been pulled out after our soundcheck and before the start. These things happen from time to time and hopefuly it didn't spoil the performance. Thanyou to Dave Roberts and his crew who have been working so hard to raise money to keep the 'Cambridge Rock Festival' with us for 2011. I am sure that you will all support this wonderful growing East Anglian event at which we very much look forward to seeing you on the opening night. Don't forget that we still need your input to help us choose the next few songs to work on in 2011, by either responding on the guestbook, or vote page. As always we love to have a chat with you during the interval and end of our gigs and appreciate your kind comments. Next gig, The Brickmakers, Norwich (12 feb 2011). All the very best to you all.
19/12/2010 3:49:24:PM Happy Christmas and 2011 The Pure Floyd Show would like to take the opportunity in wishing all those that have followed or been involved with the band, a very happy and healthy Christmas and new Year. We know that 2011 is going to be a very tough year for most of us, lets hope that we can still get together again and continue to perform the magic of Floyd. We know that when you are playng or listening to great music, everything seems to feel so wonderful . we look forward to seeing you through 2011 and we will be delivering some of the much anticipated new songs in to our already comprehensive set. Don't forget to keep in touch either via the web or at the gigs. we would love to hear from you. All the very best to you all - Ho, Ho, Ho The Pure Floyd Show!
21/11/2010 11:16:08:PM Kingfisher Club Our thanks to Kerry, who stood in for our normal drummer 'Jaspa'. An outstanding job buddy. The girls got heaps of praise after the gig, which was great since Kelly only had her jaw worked on 5 days ago. Andy's keyboards were back to 100% operation, following mid-week emergency repairs and Gary's footpedals stopped working 2 minutes before the first song. Luckily, with gentle foot message, he battled through. The 'pea soup' driving conditions were a bit scary on the way home, especially with Ian behind the wheel, but lashings of toast, tea and abuse back at base at 4.30 in the morning, put an end to another great night. Thank you to our band of followers and the new faces, who we hope enjoyed the gig. Best health to you all .. we are now in for a couple of intense practises in anticipation for the Clacton Theater performance 3 Dec 2010.
24/10/2010 8:11:19:PM Lady Of The Lake We keep saying ' what a great night last night' but nights at the lake just seem to get better and better each time. Lots of familiar and new faces, sometimes singing over the 3KW sound system. Just shows how we can all get into floyd. Shame that a couple of 'over enthusiastic' floydies had to miss out on the whole show, I'm sure we will see them again! Your comments are as always so much appreciated. We start at 12.00 midday and normally get home at 4.00am, so after 16 hours, it's nice to know that it's all worth it. All the best of health to all of you. TPFS.
27/09/2010 8:47:54:PM Pullham Falcon Village Hall Getting live music back into village halls are a big risk and that's what the landlady took when she contacted us and put on this gig. We really hope that these music events will grow and give East Anglia yet another great little venue for music fans to put on their list. It was great pleasure for us to see so many new faces and to hear your very kind words after the show. Although most of us were suffering from illness and Gary seconds away from collapsing at one stage, we had a blast. No funnies to add to this blurb, just thanks to you all and hope to see you soon. (New songs on the horizon - don't forget to go on to the vote page, or leave your Floyd demands on the guestbook) We humbly, but proudly serve!
22/08/2010 2:03:16:PM Blakeney Harbour Rooms This was our first return to the Harbour Rooms and hopefuly will continue to be an annual event. For those who have not been before, this is a 'must' if you like intimate venues with a friendly atmosphere. A big thanks to Ian who did a splendid job filling in for 'Johnny Light Fingers'. I think Ian relished the opportunity to cook the band several times (this is his idea of real fun). Well done matey! Thankyou all for the overwhelming credits you paid us after the performance, it gave us big lift before we set off for home. Just as a helpful hint for those hiring a van late at night, make sure you have enough deisel in the tank before leaving(let's say no more). Thanks to Chris and Spike who coasted the sound for the evening. We are all looking forward to a new venue next month at Pullham Market, so hope to see some of you there... As usual, thanks to all you Floydies who help us keep the Floyd show going. Don't forget to leave us your vote for new songs to add to our set, as we have several ideas to explore over the next few months. Good Health
07/08/2010 7:11:04:PM Coltishal Beer Festival Please let us start off by thanking Kerry and Gordon from the 'Floyd Effect'. Kerry stood in for Jaspa who is on a Crochet and needlework holdiday (Ha Ha). Kerry had a couple of practices with us and I think you will agree, did a superb job. Thanks mate. Gordon turned his talents to sound and damage limitation to our equipment, which he cleverly juggled controlling and protecting in the pitch dark ... all single ladies may apply to the website for his contact details. A great size crowd and a bit of luck with the weather let us enjoy another great fest.Dave looks like he is putting this fest on the map and each year is getting better and better. His ideas of moving the stage to the new lower garden will create almost an arena setting. Well, we got caught out with the rain packing up and with a 4.30am home arrival look forward to 2 weeks break until the Blakeney Harbour Room. Thanks to all of you and best wishes to Kerry and Kim with the newly awaited and new generation of Pink Floyd Fans, due October.
07/08/2010 5:44:20:PM Cambridge Rock Show As you can imagine, being first on the bill on the main stage brought a lot of pressure to the band. This was going to go one way or the other and with 5 people in the arena during sound check .... it was looking gloomy. Walking out 15 minutes later to the biggest opening crowd ever was a shock and a humbling experience. Nerves soon shook off and when we heard the crowd singing over the fantastic PA (well done crew)we knew we were in for a good set. Considering last year's deluge of rain, the economic climate and the unsettled weather, we pay testiment to Dave Roberts and all parties involved for putting on East Englands best music event. May we hope that the festival builds and builds and hope that one year we will be invited back again. We have been extremely proud to be invited to the last three and can not thank the organizer enough. Thank you to our loyal and growing fans and your very kind words and comments after the show.
19/07/2010 10:30:19:PM Park Hotel. Diss Thanks to all that attended our debut performance in the Diss area. It was a nice venue and hearty to see so many new faces. This goes without saying that we did spot many regulars also whom we consider as part of our family. It was the second time we performed Echoes and Astronomy Domini and they seem to be well oiled now. Please do not forget to go to the voting page and let us know what you would like to hear us introduce in the future. Well roll on Cambridge Rock Fest. We are the 'opening band' and have a 50 minute slot, so expect a full throttle set. Thanks for checking in on the web site and remember ... we welcome any comments that you may have no matter how big or small. Every bit of fine tuning helps us to keep improving the show. Any large cash donations would also be greatfuly received. Health to you all.
30/06/2010 10:14:53:PM Sound Engineer The band is seeking someone to operate the sound mixing desk during the performance. You may have done some work in a studio, or mixed for a band in the past. A finely tuned ear, a knowledge in basic sound technology and equipment are a kind of 'MUST'. However if you have something else to offer, such as a large amount of Cash, please contact us anyways and we may decide to overlook your inadequacy. As you can tell, we are a 'team', we work hard, play hard and have truck loads of fun during the journey. Leave your details on the guest book or use the contact number. Get dialling.
30/06/2010 9:57:22:PM Apologies For those who keep asking "when are you going to do Great Gig?" Well, believe it or not, we had this song almost ready to gig 6 months ago, but Kelly has had some on going medical issues affecting the old sound box. As you know well, this a song, NOT for the faint heated vocalist and requires 'Serious Welly'. Believe me I tried one line of the opening vocal in the bath a few months back and had to soak the round things in some cold water before getting out. Not a good thing for a guy to try and do.(try it anyways for a laugh). We hope to resume this in the near future.
30/06/2010 9:48:05:PM Lady Of The Lake What can we say??? Wow.. what a great crowd. If it had not looked too ridiculous, we would have been applauding you after each song! It was so nice to see a packed house, where everyone knew every song and the words (unlike the band - ha ha). It took a few of you to look around to see if it was OK to sing out loud and move about a bit, but you soon realised everyone was else was doing it and joined in. 'Now That's w What It's All About - 'GOOD TIMES'. Was it me, or was 3 hours of non stop floyd just the best??? We all lost about 1/2 a stone in weight (wasn't that a hot one?) Great to see our following turn out and a lot of new faces. We can not say how much we appreciate you all and truly being part of The Pure Floyd Show. As ever John and Jim (yes we know who you are)you are establishing yourself as the Floydettes! What did you think of echoes? A bit risky performing it after only a few practises and the sound check, but we think you soaked it up well. All the very best to you all and stay in contact on the guest page.
30/06/2010 9:31:48:PM King Fisher Club After such a hot day we were so thrilled to see yet another full house at the Kingfisher. We were also pleased to include another new song in to our ever growing set (Astronomi Domini) which judging by the audience reaction, seemed to be a popular choice. With so many great Floyd tracks, it is so difficult to select what we learn next? What we have done in view of this and trying to include the most important thing of all (YOU) is to give you a voice in helping us make these choices. (Please go to the VOTE page. We have thrown a few songs in to the pot for starters, a few broader ideas in how we shape the first set and if you have another favourite of yours, still vote 'Others' and leave on our Guestbook. Well go on then .... See you at 'Lady Of The Lake
