My first musical instrument was a Brown Styler 600 delux hairbrush with which I sang many a true performance in my bedroom arena. Arts and performance have been a core passion from an early age and following many shows at school, during which I caught the eye of my husband (Mike), I was persuaded to contact BODS (Bury Operatic and Dramatic Society). My first show was a choral singer in ?Perchance to Dream? and on to leading singer ?Elsie? in the Blitz performed at the Theatre Royal.
After a long break and two gorgeous children later, I finally gave in to constant family and Band requests to join forces with my singing partner Ruth and now enjoy sharing the journey with The Pure Floyd Show. Although I was weary and concerned that music and marriage may be a risk to the harmony of the band, it has in fact brought further happiness, with a husband and a band consisting of fantastic, funny and talented individuals. Practices are scary, with a lot of humour, insults and innuendos flying backwards and forwards, but with a lot of hard work added in for good measure.
My gear consists of a Shure SM58 and my mic stand and this is all I will ever need. Now I have found my feet in the band, the pressure of performing Great Gig in the Sky is looming, so arm yourselves with those ear defenders. Thanks to my Mum for taking care of my young Floydettes at gigs and when they can not attend.
